Softball Campers

Grant and I spent this weekend camping with Gabbi's softball team in Benton, IL.  We had a blast hanging out with the girls and their families, spending some time outdoors, and getting to watch them play softball.

We got to the campsite late on Friday night.  The worst part of every trip is getting out of the Nashville traffic!  Trent and some of the other dad's grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and we had pasta salad and homemade ice cream!  The campground that we were at actually had little cabins with bunk beds and a queen size bed, so we didn't have to use our tent at all!

Saturday was the softball tournament.  I think the girls had so much fun camping that they forgot they were supposed to play softball as well!  It wasn't our best performance, and it was hot, but it was still fun to watch!

Grant and Brad discussing something serious...

Gabbi Grace looking cute on the field! She told me she goes for fashion on the softball field!

In between the pool games and the tournament games they had four moms from each team and four dads from each team participate in a relay.  Technically I'm not a mom, but the girls forced me into taking an actual mom's place.  Our relay was which four person team could get around the bases the fastest.  Of course, we won!

My turn to run!

After losing our first tournament game, we headed back towards the campsite and ate at a Mexican restaurant right down the street.  While were eating it started to rain a little, so the afternoon and evening ended up cooling off and being perfect weather!  The girls and Grant got in the pool while the rest of us watch them play dodge ball, softball, stuck in the mud, and whatever else pool game they could come up with for the next three hours!  Once they finally got tired of swimming and got showers, we built a fire, roasted s'mores, and hung out for the rest of the night.

We loved getting to spend the weekend with these girls!  The state tournament and nationals are both coming up shortly, so we can't wait to cheer on the Magic some more!

We are going to have to rest up this week, because Bucky is coming to town next weekend!

Impact 2013

This week was Impact at Lipscomb!  I think we decided that our first year was five or six years ago...crazy!  We LOVE Impact!  Since we are both working people now, we spent our nights this week hanging out with the youth group, worshipping, and listen to some great speakers!

Luckily we had some extra meal tickets, so Grant and I got to eat in the cafeteria with everyone each night.  No cooking this week! Yay!  After dinner, we would head over the gym where they would have some sort of entertainment like a comedian or magician.  There were some pretty cool acts there this year!  After that, they herd you out like cattle for a thirty minute break, and then herd you right back in for the nightly worship and speaker.  The worship was great.  It's so awesome to look out and see over 2,000 teens worship together!

Jeff Walling spoke the first two nights, who is always great, and then the third and fourth nights our preacher at the church we go to Nashville spoke.  He is awesome!  The theme this year was about Honor.  Jeff spoke a lot about honoring God in both the good times and the bad.  It is so easy to only pray to God when you feel like you really need something.  But so often, we forget to thank and praise him when things are going well.  I needed that reminder this week!  Dave then spoke about how if we are honoring God with our actions, others will see that honor and it will flow outward.  He asked the question what if our youth groups and Church's didn't exist just for us, but as true tools for honoring God.  Think about all of the things we could accomplish!

God does such amazing things at Impact!  Thank you for a great week!  Praying that the teens keep the enthusiasm they had this week in the months to come!

Worship!

Klein and I were bored in between sessions!

She's so strong!

Sorry, my picture taking skills were lacking this week...check it off :)

Father's Day Weekend

Another busy, busy weekend has passed!  We had a great time in KY celebrating Father's Day!

Before my weekend recap - Friday we were pretty much done with close at work, so we got to get out and play a little during lunch time.  We happened to come across this snow cone truck - delish - and had to have one!  Bonus is that they will be there every Friday this summer, so you know where to find us! :)

On to the weekend.  We made it KY Friday night and went straight to Gran's pool for a late night swim with Tucker, Gabbi, Karson, and Klein.  Gran's brother and his family were in town, so we got to visit with them a little as well.

Pretty view on the way over the dam

Doing what they do best!

Saturday, Gabbi was in a softball tournament at the Benton Park, so we got to watch her play a couple of games.  Her team ended up winning the whole thing!  Go Magic!  Saturday night Ray's daughter, Amby, brought over her baby and some pizza for a visit with Ray for Father's Day.  We took baby Gatlin down to see the cows and hung out with them for a bit.  After they left we took Kemy to Dairy Queen to celebrate her birthday...really Ray and I wanted the ice cream, but we pretended like it was for her birthday! It worked out perfectly!

We had a great day on Sunday celebrating Father's Day with everyone!  We sure have been blessed to have the fathers figures we both have had in our lives.  Although Grant and I's father's have both passed on, we have had some pretty great dads step up and take the role!  Kem fixed lunch at her house for everyone after church and then we all headed to the pool for an intense game of volleyball!

Thankful for all of these men!

We finished off the weekend at Belew's with my 10,000th calorie for the weekend and some great fellowship with the Parker's!

Thankful for another great weekend with family and friends celebrating those important men in our life!

Random/Boring/Relaxing Weekend

So, nothing that excited to post on from this past weekend.  We spent the weekend in Nashville doing pretty much...nothing!  It was great!

Friday night we stayed in and I fixed lasagna and a pinterest dessert recipe that I had been wanting to try.  Saturday we slept in, went to the pool, and then had a date night at Edley's BBQ on 12th street.  After dinner we walked over to a gourmet Popsicle shop, Los Palatas, for dessert.  I had been wanting to try it, and it was delish!  Sunday turned into a rainy day, so we went to church and then had a movie marathon all afternoon.  Curt and Lindsey came over for dinner, so I got to try another pinterest recipe out!

The only thing really productive I did all weekend was find these two adorable pics on Pinterest!
(Catching on to how much time I spent on Pinterest!?)

This made me laugh!

Everyone knows how much I love Sprinkles, so I thought this was a great idea for a shower someday!

Sorry for the boring post!  More interesting things are happening this week/weekend, so I'll update then!

Weekend of Visits

This past weekend we headed to KY to visit with family and friends since we hadn't been in a few weeks due to all of our traveling.  We had a busy, but fun weekend, and got to catch up with A LOT of people!

Saturday we ate lunch with Kip and Blair, visited with Grant's grandparents, went to Tucker's basketball games in Murray, went to Gabbi's softball game in Paducah, back to the Lovett's for a bit, then over to the Parker's to visit with them for awhile... whew!  We hit almost every town in the area!

Blair and Kip just found out that they are having a little boy, so of course I had to get him a prize to give to them when we saw them!  We are excited to have another boy in the family!  Tucker was playing in a JV Tournament at the CFSB Center, so we got to see him play a couple of games before we headed to Gabbi's game where she pitched a no hitter!  Trent and Lisa just built a new outdoor patio with fireplace, which I love, so we caught up with them a bit more there before heading to the Parker's to catch up with them...it was a late night.

Sunday we went to church, ate at Cracker Barrel with the fam (again), went to the pool, and then finished the night at Jasmine's with Jeff, Lisa, and Dax before heading back to Nashville.  We were so busy that I forgot to get any good pics to document, except this one of my hunky husband at the pool. :)

Grant started his rotations today!  Whooo hooo!  He will be spending his first month at a compounding pharmacy in Green Hills.

The fourth and final year has officially began!
