My BIRTHDAY

This weekend we spent celebrating the best day of the year...my birthday! :)

After a slow week at work, I was so ready for Friday night to get here so that Grant and I could start the celebrations!  Once everyone got home and changed, we headed to Peter's Sushi for dinner...delish.  Afterwards we ran by TJ Maxx and got Kem and Ray's new puppy a few treats, before heading home and relaxing the rest of the night.  Great way to start the weekend and the birthday!

Saturday morning we slept in and took our time getting ready before heading over to Green Hills.  I always like going to the Japanese Hibachi grills, so we decided to do lunch at the one there.  They had a great lunch special, and we were stuffed by the time we left!  We walked around the mall for a bit (I actually got some Christmas presents), went over to West Elm, and then headed to pick up my cake at Coldstone!

I could write a whole post on how delish the cake was!  We had it custom made with cake batter ice cream, yellow cake, cookie dough, fudge, chocolate frosting, oreos, I mean...you just can't beat it!

Yummmmyyyy!!

Thanks Grant!

I don't even want to think about how much of this I ate this weekend!  Let's just say it's almost gone...whoopsie :)

Saturday night the Rams were playing the Broncos in their 3rd preseason game, so of course we couldn't miss that!  Perfect Saturday night though, with my cake, the Rams on TV, my pajamas, and Grant!

Sunday was my actual birthday, so the celebrations continued!  We went to church that morning, and then headed to Lori's apartment to hang out and swim.  At lunch on Friday we had gone to party city to try to find a theme for the swim party and our choices were...

Puppy dogs? or My little pony?

But, thankfully, we ended up with the fiesta theme instead.  It was a hit!

First time I've seen Grant with a mustache :) haha!

This year was actually the 10 year anniversary of Grant and I really starting to like each other. Ten years ago, we came to Nashville with a group of friends to celebrate my Sweet 16, got our first picture made together, and held hands for the first time :)  Who knew we would be celebrating my 26th together, married, and actually living in Nashville!

This is the card that Grant gave me with some excellent drawings that he did of things about us.

Overall it was a great weekend celebrating my 26th year! 26?! Can't believe I am that old, but thankful for all my blessings so far, and can't wait to see what is still to come! Thanks to Grant for making the weekend so fun!

Best part about the end of the weekend is that I am off Wed-Fri of this coming week! Yay! Then it's off to Ky to continue my birthday celebrations with the fam!

Perks of Being a P4

Have I mentioned that rotation life if much better than classroom life?!  Not only is Grant less stressed, spends less (actually no) time studying, but we actually get to go out and do some fun things!  The rotation site that Grant is at right now, HCA, is having a huge national convention at the Opryland Hotel.  Because his preceptor is participating in the conference, Grant also gets to!  So, he has been going to the hotel everyday this week and listening to seminars, brushing shoulder with some important people, and trying not look like a student!  Ha!  He's so important :)

Last night the activity for the conference was a private showing at the Grand Old Opry House, which we were lucky enough to get tickets for!  Nothing says Nashville to a bunch of out-of-towners like Opryland, the Opry House, country music, and cowboy boots!  The showing was closed to the public and featured Lauren Alaina, Amy Grant, and Trace Adkins!

We had a fun mid-week night out on the town!  Thanks HCA for the free show and free drinks!  Only one week left of this rotation and then only 7 left to go!  So proud of you, Grant :)

P.S:  my first bday present came in the mail yesterday too!  YAY thanks mom :)

P.S.S:  I almost forgot to mention that we got pulled over on our way to the opry last night.  Grant was driving, his wallet with his license was at home, he was going 15 over, AND by some miracle the cop let us go! That never happens to us!

Party at Kurt's!

This weekend we headed to KY to hang out with the fam all weekend.  Kurt and Tracy are still living it up in Bora Bora, so we stayed at their house with Karson and Klein all weekend (Tucker found his way over too, of couse).  Friday I was feeling a little under the weather when I woke up, so I stayed home from work.  I actually ended up having a pretty productive day and cleaned the house, caught up on some movies, and started getting my decorations ready for fall and football!

Once Grant got home, we headed out the door towards to KY.  We picked up Karson (Klein was at a dance) and met Kem and Ray at Los Portales for dinner.  Karson is in AP Chemistry this year, so after dinner Grant helped her with her homework FOREVER and I slept.  It was a pretty exciting Friday night.

Saturday, Karson was supposed to have a soccer camp in the morning and Meet the Marshals that night, but it rained all morning long and they both got cancelled!  So, Tucker came over and we decided to try to get a group together and play ultimate Frisbee at the park.  It was a blast!  I am still sore today!!

We got a little muddy :)

After Frisbee, we went and picked up Alec and Walker and headed to Kem and Ray's house to eat dinner and play games.  I love those kids so much! They are hysterical!  Never a dull moment when we are all together.  We played balderdash, sang in opera voices, sent terrible pictures of Tucker to his girl he's talking to, and I got my first happy birthday for this year sang to me!

Trent and Lisa have been visiting around to find a new church home for the past few months and have started going to First Missionary Baptist.  On Sunday they were going to place membership there, so they invited us to come and check it out that day too.  So, Grant and I took the girls to church with them and we all really liked it!  Trent and Lisa made a great choice!  Afterwards we met up with Kem and Ray at pizza hut, then headed to Murray to watch the new Percy Jackson movie.

crazy people

Sunday morning Church Selfie's!

Once the movie was over, we dropped off Tucker and Klein, then Karson, Grant and I headed to the Parker's to get caught up with them.  Of course we got to talking and stayed way to late.  We didn't get back home to Nashville until around 12:30!

Definitely blessed by another weekend in Kentucky and time with friends and family.  Love them all so much!

The real news of this post, however, is it's MY BIRTHDAY WEEK!  YAY!  Actually I'm toning down the celebrations because 26 is just getting a little old, but let's be serious....I'm not toning it down that much!!

Looking forward to a week full of celebrations!

Hotlanta!

This weekend we took a little getaway to Atlanta with Curt and Lindsey!  We decided a couple weeks ago that we should go on another vacation, and decided Six Flags Over Georgia would be a fun place to go!  Atlanta is only about 3 1/2 - 4 hours from Nashville, so we left on Friday night once we all got off work, made a quick stop at Chick-fil-a, and then headed on our way.  Unfortunately we got stuck in about an hour of traffic in Chattanooga...yuck!

We weren't excited about it...

but Curt apparently was!

The park didn't open until 10:00 am Saturday morning, so we made a quick stop to Cracker Barrel on our way.  Two pharmacy students + two one income families + expensive food inside the park = get full before we went so we didn't have to buy too many snacks!

Excited to finally make it!

We had only been at the park about 15 minutes and were in line to ride our first ride, when Curt and Lindsey got a call from their apartment complex.  Apparently, right after we left on Friday night, the fire sprinkler in their bedroom busted and started spraying water all over their bedroom.  Since they weren't home, the response time was longer and by the time the fire department got there (and kicked in their door) the water was already pretty deep in their bedroom and flowing into their living room!  Clothes, furniture, mattress, pictures, everything got wet.  But, I guess if they were going to get such bad news, Six Flags was a good place to find out!

This was Lindsey's face after she found out...

And this is Curt and Grant...

Curt called the insurance adjuster, but there was nothing really that we could at that point until Monday morning, so they decided to make the best of the vacation and try to have fun anyways!  They handled it great!

Random photos from the day:
Water break!  It was HOT!

I HAD to have a Turkey Leg!

Grant, Lindsey, and Curt (I sat this ride out)

Batman!

After a full day of riding rides and Curt and Lindsey's news, we were exhausted!

But we had a great time!

P.S. We also figured out it was Gay and Lesbian day at Six Flags - soooo that was fun...

We went back to the hotel and freshened up, took a quick rest, and then headed to a new trendy area of Atlanta to eat dinner.  The food was great! Afterwards, we grabbed some yogurt and explored their two-story Target!

Sunday, we ran by a couple of stores, then headed back to Nashville to assess the damage at the apartment.  Since it will be a few days before they can get back in, they are moving in with us until everything is settled at their place.  Yay for roommates :)  We helped Curt and Lindsey get some of their essential clothes out and over to our house so they could start on laundry.  They were soaked!  Once we got a load started, we headed to the grocery, and then Todd and Lisa came over to watch the season premiere of Breaking Bad.

One load down!

Despite Curt and Lindsey's apartment being completely flooded, we did end up having a great weekend in Atlanta!  We always have a great time with them and very thankful to have friends we can go on vacation with!

During the car ride home, I asked if anyone wanted to say a few words for the blog to sum up the weekend...

"It was my pleasure!" - Curt

"We're here, we're straight, and we think that's great!" -  Grant and Curt

Thanks boys.

Boogums and Shoogums Got Married

This weekend we celebrated the marriage of Kurt and Tracy!  Courtney, George, and Clay flew in from Maryland, so the whole family was in town to celebrate!

We are right in the middle of close at work, so we didn't make it to KY until late on Friday night.  We headed straight to Kurt's house to meet up with everyone and make sure they were ready for the wedding!  After hanging out with them for a bit, we headed back to Kem and Ray's with only one stray child...Tucker.  We made the terrible mistake of trying to sleep four in the King size bed, when Tucker is one of the four.  We had a terrible night of sleep with Courtney and I yelling/pushing/kicking Tucker all night long.  We nicknamed him the brace whisper, because he also makes some sort of strange noise when he breathes through his braces.  Ugh!  Needless to say, it was exhausting!!

The wedding was at 10 am on Saturday morning and everything turned out great!  The ceremony was short and sweet and everyone looked so pretty/handsome.  We are so happy that after everything we all went through, Kurt and Tracy found each other are happy together!

We are now the Brady Bunch!  Tracy added three more kids to the family!

Thankful for these women!  Courtney, Kelly, me, and Kem (notice Kem isn't looking at the camera in any of the photos we took)

Love these two so much!

All the childrens

Some more random photos from the day!

After the wedding, Kurt and Tracy had some of their close friends and family come out to their house to hang out for the night.  George, Courtney, Grant and I all went for a bit, and then headed over the Lovett's to meet back up with everyone else, eat dinner, and play some games.

Ray was obviously excited :)

Sunday, a guest speaker was preaching at church, so everyone came to Central.  Then, after church we headed to George's favorite restuarnt, Patti's, for lunch!  Delish!

We decided to stop at the Marina beside Patti's for this photo op!

By the time we got home from Patti's it was almost time to head back to church for the monthly youth centered worship - 626.  We went from there to Dairy Queen to grab a quick ice cream, then over to Kip and Blair's to take them a gift, and then finally got in the car to head back to Nashville!

We had a really fun, really BUSY weekend, but so glad that we got to spend so much time with family over the weekend.  Courtney and George hadn't been home since Christmas, so it was so great to have them back in Kentucky and hard to say goodbye!

Back to the real world this week, but this weekend we are heading to Atlanta with Curt and Lindsey! YAY!
