IMPACT 2014

Last week we spent the week at Lipscomb for IMPACT!  The past six or seven years we have been to at least part of Impact and we love it!  It is such a fun week spent with about 2,000 other people laughing, hanging out, not getting much sleep, and worshipping God!  It was another kind of spur of the moment trip, so we only had six in our group.  We took Grant's cousin Klein, my twin cousins, Jenna and Allie, and Abby Spicer!

The camp goes Monday through Saturday morning.  Everyday we would get up and eat breakfast, the girls would head to a class just for them, we would meet back up for Bible Class, and then head to morning Impact.  Morning Impact is a hilarious two hour comedy show, basically.  They also have a play they do every morning that goes with the theme for the week and continues everyday until the finale on Friday night.  They have to spend hours upon hours getting everything together.  I don't know how they think of some of the stuff they come up with!  It takes a lot of work to keep 2,000 teenagers alert for that long.

After Morning Impact we would head to lunch, go to one more Bible class, and then have free time for the rest of the afternoon.  I made a trip to the mall during one of our free times, but for the most part we would just play games, listen to music, watch people Karaoke, and one day they had a talent show we watched.  We would meet up for dinner, and then they would have some sort of entertainment every night.  One night it was a comedy group, one night a magician, and one night one of the finalist from America's Got Talent came and performed his act for us!  After the entertainment was always Evening Impact where we worshipped and listened to some great lessons.  Love Evening Impact and the worship time!

The very first day at breakfast a high school boy was walking behind Grant towards the trash and spilt his orange juice all down his shirt!  Ha!!

Over 2,000 people ready to worship!

The theme for this year had to do with Distractions in our everyday lives that pull us away from the things that really matter.  So, the play theme was video games set in the '80's and this was one of the main characters.  We all got our picture made with him doing his signature move!

We love Troy!  Sort of...  The first night he yelled at Grant and then clotheslined him when he was trying to get to our seats!  Seriously!  We made fun of him all week and then got their picture made with him on the last night!  Hysterical!

Shot of the play one day.  They go all out with the costumes and stage!

The twins ran into another set of twins from Canada!

Another view of the stage set up

Happy to be at Impact! LOL!

Love, Love, Love these girls!  What a great group and fun memories we made!  I love going to Impact and so happy that we got to share it with these girls.  I know I left feeling closer to them and God, and hopefully they did too!

Thanks for a great week Impact!

Florida...Again :)

Grant and I just got back from another week in Florida with my aunt and twin cousins!  It was literally spur of the moment (as in we found out we were going on Friday and left Saturday!)  My grandparents were supposed to go with them instead, but my grandmother hasn't been feeling well and couldn't make the trip.  So, Grant and I gladly stood in for them :)  Everyone keeps wondering how I manage to go to Florida so many times.  I keep telling them I can't help it that my grandparent's have a house there and everyone wants ME to go! haha  I will admit we are spoiled :)

We left on Saturday and made it to Destin around 7 that night after hitting a little bit of traffic.  We grabbed dinner at a Mexican restaurant, went and dropped off our luggage at the house, and then headed to the grocery to get ready for the week!  Sunday we went to church and then headed straight to the beach!  The weather was perfect and a great start to the week!  That night we went and ate at McGuire's Irish Pub.  Yummy!

Jenna, Me, and Allie.  People thought I was there older sister all week...Oh yeah!  Only 10 years older!

Grant and I outside of McGuire's.

Monday was more time at the beach!  We stayed late this day and cooked crab and shrimp at home that night.

Unfortunately, Grant drove the golf cart over to the beach that day and my grandfather had let the tags expire...boo!  Of course we would get a $100 ticket!!!

Every Tuesday night the little community by my Grandparent's house has fireworks.  We ate dinner at a fabulous pizza place and then watched the fireworks!  So much fun!

Janet and I

Wednesday was a little rainy in the morning, so all the girls went and got our nails done!  We did some shopping and ate at Cheeseburger and Paradise that night.  We were all a little crispy, so it was kind of nice to have a day off from the sun.

More time at the beach on Thursday!

 Ahhhh.....

Thursday night we went to our favorite restaurant the Red Bar!  Janet and the girls had never been before, so we were excited to get to take them!

Love these twins!

Friday we cooked at home again, packed up, and got ready to get up early and head back home.  It was a great week with my family and lots of memories made!

We got home, did some laundry, and packed up again because the next week we headed to Lipscomb for IMPACT! Whoo hoo!

Louisville Mini Vacay

The past couple of days we made a spur of the moment trip with the Parker's to Louisville!  We were eating at Dairy Queen after church with them on Sunday morning and they were telling us about having to go to Louisville for Peyton (their daughters) orientation at U of L.  They asked if we wanted to join, so we went home, packed up our bags, and headed to Louisville with Jeff, Lisa, Peyton, Dax, and Dax's girlfriend Rachel!!  After Grant doing nothing but studying for the last few weeks, we were in need of a little getaway!

We got there a little late on Sunday night and got settled into our hotel room. We sent Peyton to bed, and then headed down to the lobby to play cards.  Grant, Dax, Rachel, and I stayed out until 3 am playing Nerts!  We had a blast!  Peyton had to be there early on Monday morning, so we slept in while Jeff and Lisa took her to campus and then hit up the free breakfast at the hotel! Delish!  After breakfast we got ready to go explore Louisville.  We went down to campus to check on Peyton during her lunch and explored the campus a bit.  Although I have lived in Kentucky almost my whole life, I've never really spent much time at U of L.  In my house and in our family, its alllll Kentucky Blue!!  We noticed that the group leaders kept telling the freshman to not step on the Cardinals painted on the sidewalks.  I guess its a respect thing??  Well, being the UK fans that we are, we might have accidentally jumped on the Cardinal a few times :)  Whoopsie!

We left campus and headed to a neat little trendy area of town on Bardstown road.  There were all sorts of neat little shops and restaurants.  We ate at a Chinese restaurant for a late lunch and then stopped at the coolest ice cream restaurant afterwards.  They had it decorated so cute and the ice cream was delicious! They had all sorts of weird flavors to try including one ice cream with grits!

This was the door to the girls restroom.  Rachel and I thought it was funny :)

And Dax decided to be a little mischievous! haha

The décor was so cute!

After our ice cream stop, we made a quick pit stop at Home Goods before heading back to the hotel to rest.  We were all still pretty tired from staying out so late.  After a quick nap, we headed back down to the hotel lobby to play some more cards.  We ordered pizza and just had fun joking around and hanging out.  Fun day!

Tuesday morning we all slept in so late we missed breakfast (whoops) then got ready and headed to the mall for a couple hours before we had to go pick up Peyton and head home!

We had such a fun couple of days away from home!  We laughed a lot, slept a little, and made some fun memories with the Parker's!  There is never a dull moment when we are with them!
