Happy Birthday, Corynne!

Corynne turned 3 years old on Saturday!  How is she already 3?!  She is such a smart, funny, spunky little girl!  We celebrated her birthday Saturday night at Chuck-E-Cheese and had a great time.  There were about 20 adults, Corynne, and her "boyfriend" Conner all there to help celebrate!

She loved looking her cake!

Adrienne and I - Mom had three doctors appointments this week, so she was unable to make it down for the party this year.

Chuck-E came out to visit and sing happy birthday.  Love this picture of Corynne!

She got a little close to the candles and burnt her lip a little!  She didn't blow them all out the first time, but she was done with candles!  She kept saying they were too hot, and refused to try again!

She wasn't so sure about Chuck-E!

I had to get in a pic!

Having fun!

Slightly Inappropriate, but Hilarious!

So this is going to be a random post, but I wanted to upload these pictures on here in case something happens to my phone.  It's too funny not to keep :)

This weekend Trent, Lisa, Tucker, and Gabbi came to Nashville to stay with us.  Gabbi was supposed to have a soccer tournament, but unfortunately it rained all weekend and the tournament was cancelled.  Fortunately for us though, they decided to stay the whole weekend anyways!  Yay!

Friday night we ate pizza and just hung out at our apartment.  Gabbi loves to play Telestrations, so we decided to get a couple of games in before we went to bed.  Telestrations is sort of like the game telephone that everyone played at school when they were little.  You get an initial word and draw a sketch of it.  You then pass that sketch onto the next person and they try to guess the word you have.  That person then passes the word they wrote down to the next person and they try to draw that word.  The cycle keeps going until your book makes it make it back to you and your word is completely screwed up!

On this particular round Grant had gotten the word "Turtleneck" as his initial word.  He drew a terrible representation of a turtleneck and then passed his book on to Lisa.  Lisa looked at Grant's drawing of this so called turtleneck, guessed armpit, and then passed the book onto Trent.  Trent then tried to draw a picture of an armpit and it turned out looking like this...

Tucker was next to guess what Trent's drawing was and he wrote down...

It then began to go downhill from here.  So I get Tucker's word and have to try draw pubic hair!  It turned out something like this...

I then pass the book to Gabbi to the guess the word and this is what she comes up...

HAHA!  Most hilarious game of Telestrations ever!  Gabbi's spelling is what cracked me up the most!

Never a dull moment when we are with the Lovett Family!

End of P3 Year

Only two weeks left of the P3 Year for Grant! YAY!  We are getting closer and closer to graduation.  This week he got to participate in some pretty cool activities as the year is coming to a close.

On Thursday, Rear Admiral Scott Giberson, assistant surgeon general and chief pharmacy officer for the U.S. Public Health Service, spoke to the whole school.  Grant is very blessed to be at school that has such great connections!  It's not everyday you get to be in the same room with the head pharmacist of the nation!

Friday Lipscomb held a pinning ceremony for Grant's P3 class.  This ceremony is meant to signify the end of their didactic coursework and the beginning of their advanced placement practice experiences (aka rotations).  I am so proud of Grant and all of the hard work that he has put in over the last three years in the classroom.  He is going to do great in rotations, and I know he is ready to get out and put everything he has learned to practice.  When we came for the initial acceptance interview, I remember meeting some P3's and thinking that was SO FAR away!  Pharmacy school has definitely gone by faster than we though it would, and we are so glad we picked Lipscomb!  Congrats to Grant and the rest of the 2014 Class!

Jesus Culture

Tuesday night Grant and I went to worship with one of our favorite bands, Jesus Culture, at Belmont University.  About a month ago, we found out they would be coming to Nashville and knew we had to be there!  Their music has gotten Grant through probably hundreds of hours of studying, so we were excited to finally hear them live.  If you haven't heard of them you should immediately get on iTunes and listen to some of their music.  They started out from one youth group and the Lord continuously opened up opportunities for them on a much larger scale.  The lead singers are amazing!  God definitely blessed them with some major talent.
In our seats waiting for it to start!

This is the view that we had most of the night...thousands of people lifting up their hands to the Lord in worship.  Maybe its just my hormones, but when I stepped back and looked around, it brought tears to my eyes just thinking that all of these people are worshipping the same God I am.  Complete strangers with the same mission.  If everyone in that room lived out that mission like we should, there would be no limits to what God could actually accomplish!  When you are in situations like this, you can actually feel how real the Lord is.  Pretty cool.

LOVED our night of worshipping with Jesus Culture!  Fun times and extra special to get to participate in things like this with my husband.  Feeling recharged for the rest of week :)

Weekend Recap!

This week I'm starting the weekend recap on Thursday night!  Lots of crazy things have been going on at work lately from the company selling, three audits this year, tax time, etc, etc.  Everything has begun to start to slow down, so my co-workers decided we needed to treat ourselves!  We all went to eat a place called Drake's in Cool Springs after work on Thursday and had a blast!  Luckily, I actually like hanging out with my work peeps after working hours, which I know is not the case for everyone.  We all get along great, and just spent a couple of hours eating, relaxing, and celebrating the fact that we all get our lives back :)

Lori, Me, Jenny, & Anna
Friday, I left work at 2 to head the dentist.  Worst. Experience. Ever!!  I now remember why I haven't gotten a cavity filled in the last four years.  I had six cavities filled, and it was painful.  I sat with my mouth open for 3 hours!

My cousin from California, Geoff, was in town for a visit, so we planned to meet up with him for dinner at Maggiano's that night.  I was hoping I would be back to 100%, but I was still numb until about halfway through dinner!  Once the numbness wore off, I was wishing that I was numb again...so sore!  But, besides the tooth aches, we had a great time catching up with Geoff and it was great to see him since it had been about 10 years since our last visit.
Geoff and I after dinner
Saturday the weather was gorgeous!  Gabbi had a couple of soccer games in Nashville, so we slept in and then headed out to the soccer fields to support our favorite Puma!  (Gabbi's soccer team is called the Puma's)  Like I have mentioned before, my skin is so pale right now it's frightening, so I was excited to get outdoors and get a little sun...Anndddd I ended up getting quite a bit of sun...and a pretty impressive farmer's tan...

Whoopsies :)

After the game we ran to Academy Sports with the Lovett's - you can't take them anywhere...
Gabbi is trying out the dog beds. haha!

And Grant saw the most beautiful sight...
110 SPF sunscreen!!  Grant is a Nazi when it comes to sunscreen, so we had to snap his pic :)

Sunday we went to church and then went over to one of Grant's pharmacy school friend's apartment complex to grill out and play volleyball.  Sorry, I forgot to take pictures to document that it actually happened!

We had a fun, relaxing weekend leading up to a busy week this coming week.  On Tuesday we are going to see one of our favorite worship bands, Jesus Culture, in concert! Yay!  See you then :)

The Experience

This weekend was quite the experience!  Grant and I had planned on going home to Kentucky this weekend to attend the wedding of one Grant's childhood friends.  We also decided it would be a good weekend to attempt our first camping trip with the Lovett family!  Grant had asked for a tent, sleeping bags, chairs, and all the necessary camping items for Christmas, so we were needing an excuse to go try it all out.  We loaded up on Friday after I got off work and headed to Hillman Ferry Campground, which is only about a 20 minute drive from our hometown, for a weekend of family fun!

We kept checking the weather throughout the week and realized we were going to get a little chilly on this first camping experience...the low on Friday night was 34!  We then realized halfway there, that we forgot to pack our air mattress.  So, we would not only be freezing, but sleeping on rocks...awesome.  We had to remind ourselves of the motto we developed for the weekend, "It's all a part of the experience!"  Once we arrived at the campsite on Friday we set up our tent, (which turned out to be great) grilled cheeseburgers and hot dogs, made s'mores, popped popcorn, and just relaxed around the fire.

Our view on Friday night from the campsite
Trent popping some popcorn!
Tucker's shirt he got in Maryland was perfect for camping :)
Once we all began to freeze, we headed off to bed.  Let's just say it wasn't our best night of sleep ever.  It was COLD!  The metal in my nose and cheek was so cold it was painful, we could only sleep in certain positions so the rocks wouldn't jab into our bodies, and apparently it was opening day of turkey hunting season and all the turkey's were coming to our campsite gobbling and looking for refuge at the crack of dawn.  But...it was all a part of the experience!

Gabbi had a soccer game at 8:00 am on Saturday morning, so after that peaceful night of sleep we all stumbled out of our tents and rushed to get ready.  We didn't have time to take showers, so Lisa, Gabbi, and I went to the bathhouse to brush our hair and teeth.  Lisa decided she would just wipe her face and butt with some baby wipes that she had in the car since we didn't have time to shower.  She was in the stall getting all ready and came out with the wipes in hand, when Gabbi noticed that those were not baby wipes.  Gabbi had pulled the wrapper off of the container and Lisa had actually used car wipes on her face and butt!  haha!  It was hilarious! Classic story to come out of one of our family functions! We had to remind Lisa..."It's all a part of the experience!"

After the soccer game, Grant and I went to get ready for the wedding.  Luckily it was a 1:00 wedding, so we still had plenty of time after it was over to get back to the campground before dark.  Here are some pics of us from the wedding.

We like to camp in suits and dresses!

Saturday night some more family members came out to the campground to eat and hang out.  Before dinner, Grant, Karson, Klein, Tucker, Gabbi, and I all went geocaching through the woods.  It took us on about a three mile hike to find a box of  hidden treasure!  Actually, it was a box with a bunch of random items that people had left, but cool nonetheless!)

For dinner we fried fish and hush puppies and had french fries and white beans on the side.  It was delish!  We spent the rest of the night just sitting around the fire, doing a little fishing, making s'mores, popcorn, telling stories, and trying not to freeze again!

We had a great weekend camping with family!  Any chance we get to go home, spend some time, and make memories we take!  Our family is some of our closest friends, and we are so blessed that God gave us each one of them to fill a spot in our lives.  Happy Camping!

Finally Spring!

YAY for warmer weather!  This weekend it finally started to warm up enough so I could bust out some bright colors, Capri's, and sandals!  It all looks terrible on me because my skin is so pale, but the bright colors made me happy, happy, happy!

Saturday we slept in, got ready, and headed over to Opry Mills to do a little shopping.  Never again will we go on a Saturday, during the middle of the day.  The traffic was terrible and the deals were not that great!  I came away with only two sports bras from Under Armour.  Yes, that's it!  Saturday night we watched the NCAA games, met some family at Chick-fil-a as they were passing through coming home from spring break, and then spent the rest of the night relaxing!  Wild Saturday night at the Mathis household :)

Sunday after church my friend from work, Lori, invited us to go to Radnor Lake and get some fresh air and exercise.  I can't believe we had never been in the three years we have lived in Nashville. It was so much fun and a GREAT workout!  My butt and thighs are feeling it today!  We did about a 6 mile hike.  It felt great to get some sun on my skin and burn some major calories.

There's me!
Grant thought it would be funny to take a picture of my extremely white legs...no lusting, please :)  Since he's been in pharmacy school he has learned all kinds of annoying information about tanning beds and spray tans, so I am now banned from any type of sun beside the real stuff!  BOO!

We spotted about eight baby deer! Aww...

Definitely a great weekend in Nashville!

Easter Weekend!

Happy Spring Break/Easter/Tater Day!

Grant and I decided last minute that we would head back to Kentucky for the Easter weekend.  With it being Spring Break this coming week, my grandparents and a good chunk of Grant's family were all out of town, soaking up the sun, so we decided it was a good weekend to go back home and visit with friends!

Friday night when we got into town we met up to eat with one of our favorite couples to hang out with, Tyler and Megan Moss!  There's not much choice when it comes to restaurants in Benton, so when in doubt...Mexican it is!  We caught up during dinner then headed back to their house so the boys could watch the NCAA basketball games.  Like I said in a previous post, if you know me at all you know how much I love ice cream, and really anything with sugar, so Megan and I headed to Wal-Mart to find some goodies to bring back home for dessert.  I think we did a pretty good job...

What? We didn't go overboard!
This weekend also happened to be Tater Day weekend in Benton.  Tater Day brings out the best characters the area has to offer, along with everything fried you can think of, and every type of cheap item ever made in China.  I have a glorious assortment of tater day photos on my phone that are too disturbing to post on my blog.  See me if you're curious...they'll make you feel better about yourself!  Megan and I came across these t-shirts at Wal-Mart and had to have them. $7 - you can't beat that for a quality Tater Day shirt :)
Fun times at the Moss household!
Saturday night we had plans to go over to the Parker house for some snacks, games, and visiting.  We have been close friends with the Parker family for about five years now, and they provide us with some great free entertainment!  Definitely our favorite family to hang out with!  Several other friends that we hadn't seen in awhile also came over, so we had a great time catching up with everyone and once again, ate way to many sweets.  The boys decided it was necessary to play a game of poker...

Finally, we made it to Easter Sunday!  I am so thankful that we had such great friends and family to celebrate this special day with.  We started off the day at our church, then hopped (see what I did there) over to Grant's brother's church for a second service.  We were really celebrating this Easter! :)  After services, we headed over to Grant's grandparents house for some Chili, hot-dogs, strawberry shortcakes, and basketball.  Every year Grant's mom likes to take an Easter picture, but since she is at Disney World, we had to take our own to send to her.  Yes, I know my jacket is bright, looks like a traffic director, etc, etc...

We had a fun/busy weekend of celebrating the Resurrection with friends and family.  In the spirit of some of Grant's family being in Disney, here is a picture of me the last time I was there...excuse the bangs, glasses, visor, and all around outfit.
